We're
Special Too! is a free sibling support program for
brothers and sisters of children with special needs,
such as hospitalization, handicapping conditions,
chronic or terminal illness. Sponsored by the Friends
of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and coordinated
by a Certified Child Life Specialist, this program
encourages self-expression
and develops trust in a fun, creative environment.

We're
Special Too! brings siblings together to enjoy interactive
programs,
socialize and share feelings unique to their experiences.
Siblings meet new
friends and learn they are not alone in their situations
and/or feelings.
We're Special Too! also allows siblings to share commonly
experienced
situations with peers. |
Children learn ways to cope with their particular
situations and they are recognized for the
contributions that they make to their families.
Most importantly, siblings are made to feel
that they are special too.
